About Kerry

Kerry Zieger is the founder and CEO of Special Purpose, LLC in Cincinnati Ohio.

Kerry has over 30 years’ experience as a law enforcement officer.  He began his career with the Honolulu Police Department and spent his last 21 years with the Seattle Police Department. Kerry spent the majority of his time as a street cop, including 10 years on the downtown mountain bike squad in Seattle. Kerry worked hundreds of protests during that time.  Kerry has been on the front lines of many of the “Battle of Seattle” riots including:

  • Law Enforcement Intelligence Union protest (2003)
  • Several May Day protests including the May Day riot of 2016.
  • Occupy Seattle Movement protests (2011)
  • The 2020 George Floyd protests and the dismantling of the “CHOP” zone in Seattle.

Kerry was also a hand-to-hand defensive tactics instructor with the Seattle Police Department for over 15 years.  He was one of eight original Master Instructors for SPD.  Kerry also taught police subjects such as active shooter, TASER and other weapons, de-escalation, and riot control.

Kerry has appeared several times on local news stations in Seattle and in Cincinnati.  His last appearance was on Kiro 7 in Seattle.  He was brought in as a Street Survival Expert for a story on surviving a carjacking.
